WiMAX - are you prepared?
2008 will be the breakout year for WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access). WiMAX introduces web browsing at speeds much faster than WiFi, ranges are designed to extend up to 30 miles and will allow you to stay connected to the Internet from anywhere, without the need of finding a hot spot.
Cisco® recently announced a definitive agreement to purchase Navini Networks, Inc. a leader in the Mobile WiMAX 802.16e-2005 broadband wireless industry. Navini's WiMAX products will extend Cisco's market-leading WiFi and WiFi-Mesh portfolios, allowing Cisco to uniquely address the rapidly growing markets for broadband wireless services.
Analysts are already projecting 54 million WiMAX subscribers by 2012 worldwide, not only in emerging markets, where WiMAX will be the primary technology, but also Europe, where it will be used to complement wifi and wired offers. At least a third of the market will use WiMAX as a fixed-access technology.
To gain an insight into the role of WiMAX in wireless networks and allow you to stay ahead of the competition Fast Lane is offering a 1 day Essential WiMAX course (offered in partnership with Mpirical) that will answer all your questions and help you prepare for the future.
